ACFiles
Version 5.14 Features
Public Release #1
Has ALL the features of QuickBBS's file system...with MUCH enhancement..
ANSI users can use a scroll bar to move up and down a file list, new search
list, file search list, or keyword search list to mark files for download.
This is NOT how some other the 'other' file section doors do it. It's
very handy to be able to mark a file in the list as you are viewing the
list. Stats are given at the bottom as you mark the files so you can
keep up with your Kbyte limit and time limit.
ASCII/ANSI users can tag files by entering a filespec if they choose. I've
no idea why ANSI users would want to use this old, dried-up method, but it
is there for ASCII users mainly.
Allows up to 120 file areas.
Status bar looks similar to QuickBBS's.
Auto-screen length detection for both remote and local. Uses up to 99
lines on either end.
Has it's own Chat program that is full-screen (2-way).
Built-in ANSI/ASCII screens make things look nice.
Up to 2 definable "auto-download" filenames.
SysOp can tell ACFiles to hide uploaded files.
SysOp can tag files and move them around, delete them, edit their
descriptions, and hide/unhide them.
SysOp can do an Add Files Not In File List. This searches the directory
for any files that are not in the list but do exist in the area's
directory. It'll then ask you which ones you want to add and ask for
descriptions.
Download # counters kept for files.
Upload Time Ratio value defined.
Users can download all the marked files they have tagged in all areas in
1 shot.
External protocols available.
Upon the Move File command, ACFiles calls a batch file, MOVE.BAT, which
allows you to do anything you want to the file before moving it. Example
MOVE.BAT's will convert the files to .ZIP format, scan for viruses, etc.
On-line help is available and can be worded however you want.
Users can see how many files they have tagged in all areas while viewing
the file list. This makes it easier for them to check the amount they have
tagged against their time limit.
Time limits can be up to 1440 minutes - actually longer than that, but I
know it'll work up to 1440.
While viewing an archive, you can view a textfile inside of it.
Upon doing a Type a Textfile, View Archive, etc., ACFiles will use the
filenames you have selected as defaults. Hitting Space will toggle between
the filenames.
SysOp can view the transfer log and delete it as well.
Doing a move command, etc., one does NOT have to enter in a path. Instead
it is all done by Area Tags that are associated with the file area.
For each configured area, you can specify the area name, short description,
path, path\filename to it's FILES.BBS, an area for it's files to be
uploaded to, security level, and security flags.
Supports BIOS/DIRECT screen writes.
Comes with it's own maintenance program. Note that you don't have to use
it, but it does a lot.. It'll neaten up the FILES.BBS lines for you (it'll
Capitalize The First Letter Of Each Word, Like This Line..) and sort under
the comment lines.
ACMaster will make a master file list for you.
For those running Filedoor, when you run ACFiles there is 1 small
incompatibility with the way it keeps up with the Download # counter. A
quick conversion program is provided.
It is written in MIX Power C, which is a fast little compiler.
If FREQDOOR.BAT exists in the ACFiles directory, it'll tell ACFiles to make
a [R] File Request door available. It'll call FREQDOOR.BAT upon that
command. This makes it such that you can still run you favorite file
request door under ACFiles.
Basically, if you are fed up with old file section technology and the same
old stuff, then ACFiles is for you. It is modern, fast, efficient, and is
great from any view point. It's not another dinky file section door. It
is a complete File System! In case you are wondering what ACFiles means,
it stands for Auto Control File System.
This product will also be fully supported. We've got a wide-range of
people beta testing it. Some run <ra>, and others run QuickBBS. We've got
the usual hard drive file section people, and I run a WORM drive for my
file section.. Anything that you can get a DOS prompt on to access will
work with ACFiles.
ACFiles - Because everything else is just a door....
